Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Bechara Boutros Rahi, on Friday welcomed at the Patriarchal seat in Bkirki General Security chief, Abbas Ibrahim, with whom he discussed the current situation in Lebanon and the broader region.
Maj. Gen Ibrahim briefed Patriarch Rahi on the tasks and work undertaken by the General Security on dossiers related to the Lebanese-Syrian borders' control and the displaced Syrians.
Both sides saw eye to eye on the need for a swift government formation to address the simmering socio-economic situation, as per a statement by Bkirki's Media Bureau.
There was also emphasis on the need to devise a practical mechanism to be swiftly implemented to ensure the return of Syrian refugees to their country to live in dignity in their homeland and to ease the burden of the repercussions of this displacement on Lebanon, Bkirki's statement read.
The Patriarch hailed the work of Major General Ibrahim, wishing him success in all national tasks entrusted to the General Security.
Rahi also heaped praises on the work and efforts of the General Security in all its components, to maintain the stability and security of the country.
