Hundreds of residents of the Shatt al-Arab district cut off the road leading to Shalamja port to protest against water pollution

Basra, Hundreds of residents of the Shatt al-Arab district eastern of Basra held an open sit-in on the road leading to Shalamja border crossing with Iran to demand a quick solution to the problem of water pollution and salinity and improve the reality of services in the district.

The protesters closed the road to the port, threatening to continue cutting it until the implementation of their demands to find a quick solution to water pollution.

Dozens of elders and dignitaries of the Shatt al-Arab district threatened on Saturday to close the road leading to Shalamja border crossing because of the deterioration of services.
