Baghdad, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs decided to summon the Algerian ambassador in Baghdad to inform him and the Algerian government of the rejection and resentment of the Iraqi government and people for what happened in the match of the Iraqi Air Force Club participating in the Arab Clubs Championship.
"The ministry expresses its condemnation of the behavior of some of the people who are present in the Algerian sports community in the match played by the Iraqi Air Force participating in the Arab Championship, which in turn harmed the depth of the brotherly relationship between the two brotherly countries," Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmad Mahjoub said in a statement.
Mahjoub added: "The ministry summoned on the Algerian government to inform the Algerian government of the rejection and resentment of the Iraqi government and people and remind them of the responsibility of protecting the Iraqi citizens present in Algeria and keeping away from anything that might provoke our people.
"The Iraqi people who love their brothers have been and continue to be an example and a model in brotherly relations away from any sectarian language that gives enemies the opportunity to dismantle our brotherly societies."
