President of the Republic, Michel Aoun, on Thursday welcomed at the Baabda palace a delegation of the International Organization of Vine and Wine (IOVW), led by its General Director Jean-Marie Aurand, in the presence of the Director General of the Ministry of Agriculture, Eng. Louis Lahoud.
The visit comes on the occasion of the Lebanese Wine days.
The delegation is currently in Lebanon to partake in the conference organized by the Holy Spirit University Kaslik, in cooperation with the Organization, on new technologies in wine processing and the impact of climate change on the cultivation of vine.
The Conference takes place at the Holy Spirit University premises from 12 till 15 September.
Aurand briefed President Aoun on the World Organization's activities and mission mainly to develop high-quality global systems for wine production and processing.
Aoun welcomed the delegation in Lebanon, bringing to attention that the history of the longstanding relationship between Lebanon and wine dates back thousands of years, stressing the importance of cooperation between Lebanon and the world organization, notably in the exchange of expertise.
Aoun highlighted the importance of multiplying the amount of wine production for Lebanon at the current phase, hoping Lebanon will have an equally important contribution to raising the level of wine production globally.
