GCC Chief hails Saudi King’s peacemaking role

Riyadh, Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Alzayani hailed the dedicated efforts exerted by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, which yielded Jeddah Peace Agreement between Ethiopia and Eritrea.

Eritrean president and Ethiopian Prime Minister sealed the peace deal in the presence of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the United Nations (UN) Secretary-General. Dr. Alzayani paid tribute to the Saudi monarch for his strenuous efforts which enabled the two African countries to reach this historic peace agreements. He hailed the peace milestone as a testament to the Saudi regional and international standing and respect shown by the Eritrean and Ethiopian leaders to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.

The GCC Chief underlined the pivotal role played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to maintain regional stability and bolster security and peace. He underscored the importance of the agreement which ends conflict and achieves security and peace between the two countries, the Red Sea and the African coast.
