Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri chaired on Friday a meeting at the Center House in the presence of his advisor Fadi Fawaz and the Head of the EU delegation to Lebanon Ambassador Christina Lassen accompanied by a delegation.
The meeting focused on the Rafic Hariri International Airport and the projects to enlarge it and improve the services provided.
Ambassador Lassen commended the ongoing work, especially the administrative and logistic procedures. The meeting also highlighted the importance of implementing the administrative reforms related to CEDRE Conference.
Hariri then chaired another meeting in the presence of Lassen and the accompanying delegation, attended by the Secretary General of the Higher Defense Council Brigadier General Saadallah Hamad, Hariri's advisor for cyber affairs Lina Oueidat and a number of officials.
During the meeting, a presentation was made of the roadmap to combat cybercrimes in Lebanon, in the framework of the project presented by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers to the European Union. The EU had accepted to support it and help implement the national strategy to combat cybercrimes, with the participation of all concerned bodies.
After the meeting, Lassen said: "We had first a meeting with the Prime Minister, and then a meeting on cybersecurity. The European Union has been working with the various experts for the last two years to try to assist Lebanon in this huge challenge for all of us that is cybercrime and cybersecurity right now. We all have to protect our systems and in the European Union we have lots of experience because it is really challenging. So we basically had this meeting with the Prime Minister to say that we are happy to continue working with Lebanon on a national strategy for cybersecurity.
