Hakim Calls On US Companies To Invest In Iraq And Contribute To Reconstructing Its Infrastructure

BAGHDAD, Foreign Minister Mohammed Ali al-Hakim called on American companies to invest in Iraq and contribute to the reconstruction of infrastructure.

"Al-Hakim met Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Andrew Beck and discussed with him the bilateral relations and ways of developing them to serve the interests of the two friendly peoples, as well as regional and international issues of common concern," a foreign ministry statement said.

During the meeting, the minister expressed his aspiration to work to support and strengthen Iraqi-US relations, reflecting their specificity and strategy, stressing the importance of continuing to work to achieve the common interests of the two countries in the coming stage.

Hakim called the "US companies to invest in Iraq, and contribute to the reconstruction of infrastructure, considering the Iraqi market is promising, and open to investment."

He pointed out that Iraq adopts the establishment of bilateral relations with the countries of the world, especially the neighboring countries based on the patronage of common interests in different areas, and the common dangers.

For his part, the US official stressed "his country's interest in ways of advancing bilateral relations, consultation on regional developments in the Middle East and a number of international issues of mutual interest."
