Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri received a cable of congratulations from the US President Donald Trump on Independence Day in which he said:
"On behalf of the American people, I express my warmest wishes to the Lebanese people for a safe, joyous celebration on the 75th anniversary of Lebanon's independence November 22.
We deeply value the partnership between our two countries and applaud the great progress your government has made over the past year, including by holding a successful legislative election and remaining steadfast in the fight against terrorism.
The United States looks forward to working with a new Lebanese government that is committed to upholding Lebanon's sovereignty and political independence.
Please accept my deepest congratulations on this historic day and know that the United States stands firm in our support for a prosperous, secure, and peaceful Lebanon."
Hariri also received a number of cables of congratulations on this occasion from heads of state and officials, most notably the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, the Prime Minister of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki, the Prime Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Zvizdic, the Prime Minister of Tunisia Youssef Chahed and the Secretary General of the League of Arab States Ahmed Aboul Gheit.
