KHCB sponsors major fintech event

Manama, Khaleeji Commercial Bank (KHCB), one of the leading Islamic banks in the Kingdom of Bahrain, has announced its sponsorship of the 25th edition of the World Islamic Banking Conference (WIBC).

The conference was launched on Monday under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa the Prime Minister, organised by Middle East Global Advisors (MEGA) in strategic cooperation with the Central Bank of Bahrain.

More than 1,200 Islamic banking leaders, policy-makers and innovators will participate in a series of panel discussions regarding the theme "Islamic Finance and Sustainable Economic Growth in the Age of Disruption", in line with the vision of the global Islamic banking industry to keep abreast with the global financial industry's advancements of employing technology in business development.

On this occasion, Sattam Sulaiman Alqossaibi, CEO of KHCB said: "There is no doubt that the FinTech sector is witnessing notable development, especially as a large number of start-ups are moving to adopt this technology, globally. This technology also creates opportunities for a new generation of youth who adopt the digital lifestyle. In light of these developments and potentials provided to individuals and institutions, we are proud that the Kingdom of Bahrain is one of the first countries to take a leading initiative in this field through the efforts of the Economic Development Board."

He also said: "This year's conference will witness wide participation and a high level of representation of FinTech experts, which will reflect on the quality of discussions outputs, as well as the promotion of the Bahraini market's facilitations and advantages in the field of payment systems and FinTech. This will make the conference a strong launching point for FinTech in the Bahraini market, which we aim to achieve through our support for this important event."
