LADE: May 6 parliamentary elections not democratic

The Lebanese Association for Democratic Elections (LADE) issued Tuesday its reports on the supervision of the recent parliamentary elections in Lebanon held on May 6, 2018, in cooperation with other associations and organizations, during a workshop at the Smallville Hotel, Badaro.

LADE Secretary General, YaraNassar, indicated that the reports were the synthesis of the joint efforts of 1380 observers who had operated nationwide.

She added that the said polls were not democratic for multiple reasons, stressing that elector votes were not "free," but rather subjected to clientelism.

She went on to say that the adopted election law failed to establish equality among voters and candidates alike and that it did not ensure correct representation.

Nassar also tackled the high electoral expenditures.
