Minor earthquake hits Cairo

Cairo, A minor earthquake measuring 4.0 on the Richter scale hit Egypt on Monday afternoon, it was announced here.

In a statement to the Middle East News Agency (MENA), Hatem Ouda, head of the National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics, said that the epicentre of the quake was located in the Katamiya district in Cairo, 20 kilometres below sea level,

He added that the institute had not received any reports on casualties or damage.
