Riyadh, Emanating from the cordial and fraternal ties binding the two sides, a joint meeting between the secretariat general of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the Republic of Iraq was held at the headquarters of the GCC in Riyadh today.
Spurred by the joint interests and noble objectives that envisage a prosperous future for the peoples of the Arab gulf organization and its north eastern neighboring country, Dr. Abdulaziz bin Hamad Al-Owaisheq, GCC Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Negotiations, and Nazar Alkhairallah, the Iraqi foreign ministry's veteran undersecretary, co-chaired the meeting.
The positive atmospheres over-winging the talks, helped the participants to make breakthroughs on the wide-range agenda, covering the economic, political, security, cultural, media, educational, health, and sports fields, based on the 2019 - 2024 agreement signed by the two sides, organizers said.
They added that the meeting drew the attention to the importance of enhancing political, strategic and security coordination between the two sides with the aim to enhance security and stability in the region and cooperate in the field of terror and extremism combat.
A follow-up joint committee was formed to get re-assured of implementing the plan, it was announced.
