Yemeni government confirms its intention to correct peace process track

Riyadh, Deputy Foreign Minister of Yemen Ambassador Mohammad Alhadhrami stressed that the legitimate government's approach in his country will focus on correcting the peace process track in line with what was agreed upon. He added that this will be achieved by re-engaging positively with the efforts of the UN envoy.

In a meeting in Riyadh with the British Ambassador to Yemen Fiona Walker, Ambassador Hadhrami reiterated the government's rejection of Iranian-backed terrorist Houthi militia-announced withdrawal from the port of Hodeidah, according to official Yemeni news agency.

He also stressed the importance of activating the role of the Coordination Committee for the redeployment, including the tripartite monitoring mechanism and the need for a real and complete withdrawal from the city of Hodeidah and the ports of Hodeidah, Salif and RasIssa.

Hadhrami made it clear that the authority of the UN regarding implementation of Hodeida Agreement must be abided by and that the authority of the Redeployment Committee and UN Mission for implementing Hodeida Agreement does not include renegotiation on Stockholm agreement but on withdrawal of Houthis from Hodeida city and its port.

He confirmed that silence on Houthi hindrance of the agreement during the UN mediation does not help the UN envoy but complicate his task.

For her part, the UK diplomat renewed her country's support for the government of Yemen and efforts by the UN envoy, confirming keenness of the UK on realizing just and sustainable peace in Yemen.
