Baghdad, Iraq and Saudi Arabia discussed facilitating the passage of passengers between the two countries at all border crossings.
A statement by the Foreign Ministry said that the Ambassador of Iraq in Riyadh Qahtan Taha Khalaf met with Tamim bin Majid Al Dosari, Undersecretary of the Saudi Foreign Affairs for Consular Affairs at the headquarters of the Saudi Foreign Ministry. The Ambassador addressed the issue of facilitating the passage of passengers between the two countries at all land, and that the important development will happen through the opening of the border crossing of Arar during the month of next October. "
During the meeting, the Ambassador discussed the issue of Saudi entry fees and the importance of reducing them in accordance with the principle of reciprocity. The high cost of the Saudi entry visa impedes the movement of travelers and trade between the two countries and the damage is therefore on the two peoples who are deprived of the huge economic returns that can be achieved by the process of activating the trade and travel movement between the two brotherly countries. "
For his part, Undersecretary of the Saudi Foreign Minister stressed the Kingdom's keenness to strengthen relations with Iraq and the importance of facilitating the passage of passengers and goods. He pointed out that the fees of Saudi entry visas with brotherly countries are being reviewed according to the principle of reciprocity.
