Baghdad, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said on
Friday evening that he informed Russian President Vladimir Putin about the date
of the “OPEC +” meeting.
Novak added that he told President Putin that the “OPEC +” meeting is expected to be held on the sixth of this April.
The Russian Energy Minister indicated that he told Putin that oil production should be cut for the next few months, and that he should recover gradually after that.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has called for an emergency meeting of “OPEC +” countries in order to find a solution to the global oil price war crisis.
Saudi Arabia indicated that this invitation comes within the framework of the Kingdom’s continuous efforts to support the global economy in this exceptional circumstance and in appreciation of the request of the President of the United States of America Donald Trump and the request of friends in the United States.
Earlier last month, OPEC failed to reach an agreement with a number of independent producers, led by Russia, on a new agreement to curb supplies and control prices.
