Baghdad, Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein met the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Yousef bin Uthaymeen, during a visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at the invitation of his counterpart Prince Faisal bin Farhan.
A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the two sides discussed the danger of extremism and atonement and the importance of realistically confronting its ideology through programs and steps that reflect the cooperation of the states parties to the organization.
The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation renewed the support of all the states party to it for the government and people of Iraq in confronting terrorism and taking various means to support it through the branches of the OIC General Secretariat, and in various fields.
He stressed that the security and sovereignty of Iraq and its territorial integrity represent an important reality, stressing the importance of respecting the sovereignty of states and not interfering in their affairs as is the approach taken by the Iraqi government.
He added that we are happy with the rapprochement that the government of Iraq and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are taking, which will positively reflect on the interests of the two brotherly peoples.
For his part, the Minister extended an invitation to the Secretary-General of the organization Yousef bin Uthaimin to visit Iraq and discuss cooperation ties at all levels within the organization’s framework.
