The Ministry of Defense announced, today, Thursday, the arrest of 7 drug dealers and another accused of kidnapping in Baghdad, Babylon and Diwaniyah.
The ministry said in a statement: “Under the directing and supervising of the Minister of Defense, Thabet Al-Abbasi, as part of the continued implementation of qualitative operations by the heroes of the General Directorate of Intelligence and Security at the Ministry of Defense, and with accurate field follow-up, the detachments of the Diwaniyah Intelligence and Security Directorate affiliated to the aforementioned directorate were able to arrest five drug dealers and promoters in the districts of Al-Hamza Al-Sharqi and Al-Sudair in Diwaniyah Governorate, with arrest warrants issued against them in accordance with the provisions of Article (28 Narcotics), legal measures were taken against them and they were referred to the judiciary.”
In the same context, according to the statement, and with precise intelligence efforts, the detachments of the Intelligence an
d Security Directorate of Babylon, after setting up a tight ambush in Al-Kifl District, were able to arrest two drug dealers of foreign nationalities, red-handed, and in their possession were various narcotic pills and a quantity of crystal narcotic substance, in addition to drug use tools. The seized items were confiscated and the accused were handed over to the competent authorities.
On the other hand, the detachments of the Intelligence and Security Directorate of Baghdad arrested one of the wanted persons by the judiciary on charges of kidnapping in one of the areas of the capital, through a judicial warrant issued against him according to Article (421 Kidnapping).
