BAGHDAD, The Ministry of Defense announced the launch of a large scale operation to hunt dormant cells in the desert of the western province of Anbar province.
"The Command of the 1st Infantry Division carried out an extensive operation in the desert of Ratba, Saad airport and Hawran valley Lake under the Command of the Deputy Commander of the Division, to hunt dormant cells and to search for the war debris of the Daesh terrorist gang and to clear the desert from any attempt to penetrate," the Ministry said in a statement.
"The operation comes within the framework of pre-emptive operations carried out by our armed forces to fill gaps and prevent the infiltration of terrorists into the cities to destabilize their internal security.
