Baghdad – Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi concluded, on Sunday evening, his official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran, to which he arrived from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Al-Kadhimi had arrived in the Saudi city of Jeddah on Saturday evening, and he was received by the Crown Prince of the Kingdom, Prince Muhammad bin Salman Al Saud, where they held a meeting in which they discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries and promote economic integration, and discuss a number of files with a regional dimension.
The meeting witnessed an affirmation of Iraq’s prominent role in the region, its efforts in calming and constructive dialogues.
Al-Kadhimi performed Umrah to the Sacred House of God in Macca.
After concluding his visit to the Kingdom, the Prime Minister headed to the Islamic Republic of Iran on Sunday afternoon and was received by Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi.
The two sides held a meeting in which they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and joint cooperation in various fields. They also discussed a number of basic issues of common interest, especially with regard to the regional situation, where it was emphasized that support for the armistice in Yemen and the strengthening of efforts to stop the war and establish peace there, and a peaceful solution to the crisis in Yemen.
The role of Iraq in the region and its efforts in consolidating peace, in a way that enhances its regional and international standing, was also praised.
