Durban: Assistant Minister of Culture Rakan Altouq met yesterday with the South African minister of sport, arts and culture on the sidelines of the sixth Group of Twenty (G20) culture ministers' meeting held in Durban, Republic of South Africa.
According to Saudi Press Agency, at the outset of the meeting, Altouq congratulated the minister on South Africa's efforts in chairing the G20 this year, praising South Africa's commitment to continuing the cultural track, highlighting the importance of the cultural sector, and promoting the exchange of expertise among member states. He affirmed the Kingdom's support for the cultural priorities set by the South African presidency for this year.
The officials discussed ways to enhance cooperation in several cultural fields in which South Africa excels, notably fashion, visual arts, film, and literature, as well as opportunities for mutual participation in cultural events between the two countries.
