Astragalus Tribuloides Delile Thrives in Northern Borders Region

Riyadh: Flourishing in Wadi Al-Aqra' in Northern Borders Region is Astragalus tribuloides Delile, a seasonal wild plant prominent in springtime. This small, prostrate annual herb reaches up to 15 cm in length and features distinctive hairy leaves, ranging from 5 to 9 cm long, each bearing 6 to 15 pairs of narrow leaflets.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the plant species encompasses several varieties, producing clusters of 2 to 6 white or pink flowers, 0.5 to 1.2 cm long, with star-shaped pods. Typically blooming in March, this plant adds a unique aesthetic touch to the region's natural landscape.

National initiatives and environmental regulations in Saudi Arabia have successfully brought back Astragalus tribuloides Delile, a vital part of the nation's plant diversity, playing an important role in boosting vegetation cover and avoiding its extinction.
