Davos: The Minister of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), Eng. Abdullah Alswaha, held a series of meetings with leaders from major global technology companies during his participation in the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos. These discussions centered on strategic investments and expanding future partnerships in artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, and modern technologies, underscoring the Kingdom’s status as a hub for technology and innovation in the region.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Alswaha met with Matt Garman, CEO of Amazon Web Services (AWS), to discuss enhancing AWS’s strategic partnership in cloud computing, AI, and investments within Saudi Arabia. This collaboration aims to support the growth of the digital economy and reinforce the Kingdom’s regional position as a center for innovation and advanced technical solutions.
In further efforts to strengthen global partnerships in AI, Alswaha engaged with Alexandr Wang, founder and CEO of Scale AI, focusing on enhancing AI and data solutions and developing the Kingdom’s capabilities in line with its digital economy aspirations.
Alswaha also held discussions with Arvind Krishna, CEO of IBM, to explore opportunities for high-quality investments in Saudi Arabia and to expand partnerships in AI and big data, aiming to develop national capabilities in modern technologies.
In a meeting with Kenichiro Yoshida, Chairman and CEO of Sony, Alswaha explored avenues to expand partnerships in technology and innovation. They discussed developing strategic partnerships and exchanging expertise to support the digital economy and enhance capabilities in online gaming.
Additionally, Vice Minister at the MCIT, Eng. Haitham AlOhali, met with Kevin Weil, Chief Product Officer of OpenAI, to discuss ways to enhance partnerships in developing AI technologies. Their talks focused on investing in AI’s promising potential to drive the growth of the digital economy and achieve sustainable development.
