Custodian of Two Holy Mosques Approves Holding Ninth International Award for Memorizing Holy Quran for Military Sector, under Patronage of HRH Crown Prince

Riyadh, June 2, 2022, SPA – The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has issued approval to hold the Ninth International Award for Memorizing the Holy Quran for the Military Sector between Rabi al-Thani 12 and 19, 1444 Hijri, under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense.

The award committee commenced its work today, where the award is organized by the Ministry of Defense, represented by the General Administration for Religious Affairs of the Armed Forces.

Acting Director General of Religious Affairs at the Armed Forces and Supervisor General of the Award Sheikh Abdulrahman Al-Husseini referred to the achievements of the award throughout its history of encouraging military personnel from around the world to memorize the Holy Quran, its tajweed, interpretation and highlight the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s efforts in caring for the Holy Quran and memorizing it.

He noted that this year’s award introduces a competition for the best voice and increases the allocations of the award compared to previous versions to reach SAR1.55 million distributed for the four categories of the award as the following:

– Memorizing the entire Holy Quran with tarteel, tajweed and interpretation of its meanings.

– Memorizing 20 parts of the Holy Quran with tarteel, tajweed and interpretation of its meanings.

– Memorizing 10 parts of the Holy Quran with tarteel, tajweed and interpretation of its meanings.

– Memorizing 5 parts of the Holy Quran with tarteel, tajweed and interpretation of its meanings.

Al-Husseini noted that several arbitrators were nominated for the award, representing the elite of senior readers of the Islamic world, pointing out that the Ministry of Defense has invited several military institutions inside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and abroad in more than 40 Arab and Islamic countries to participate in this year’s edition of the award.

He stressed that the award events consider preventive measures of COVID-19, where a medical committee was introduced within the executive committee, which was provided with the latest medical devices to ensure applying the best safety means to preserve the health of participants.
