Damascus: Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Albudaiwi expressed his strongest condemnation of the riots, attacks, and attempted vandalism targeting the headquarters of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Embassy and the residence of the head of mission in the Syrian capital, Damascus, as well as the unacceptable insults directed toward the national symbols of the UAE. According to Saudi Press Agency, Albudaiwi emphasized the importance of the competent authorities in the Syrian Arab Republic holding those involved in these attacks and insults toward UAE national symbols accountable. He further stressed the need to enhance the protection of diplomatic premises and the residences of embassy personnel in accordance with the norms and conventions governing diplomatic work.
