GOSI Governor Engages in GCC Retirement and Insurance Dialogue.

Doha: The General Organization for Social Insurance (GOSI) took part in the 23rd meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Committee of Heads of Civil Retirement and Social Insurance Agencies. The event, held from November 4 to 6, was hosted by Qatar’s General Retirement and Social Insurance Authority. GOSI Governor Abdulaziz bin Hassan Al-Boug led the Saudi delegation.

According to Saudi Press Agency, meeting attendees examined the committee’s progress report, statistical indicators for the implementation of the Unified System for Extending Insurance Protection, and governance of the technical committee’s operations. Discussions also covered regular seminars and the Scientific Research Award for Civil Retirement and Social Insurance Institutions in the GCC countries. An important topic was the targeting of unregistered workers under the Unified System for Extending Insurance Protection, along with proposals from member states and the GCC General Secretariat.

Governor Al-Boug emphasized the meeting’s ro
le in fostering cooperation and integration among retirement and social insurance agencies within the GCC. He noted it as a reflection of the shared commitment to exchange expertise and develop policies aimed at ensuring the sustainability of pension systems and enhancing insurance protection for GCC citizens.

Governor Al-Boug also mentioned that addressing current challenges and reviewing best practices would aid in achieving greater alignment between systems in the GCC, enhancing readiness to address future requirements.

The GCC Committee of Heads of Civil Retirement and Social Insurance Agencies was formed to bolster cooperation and share expertise among member states in civil retirement and social insurance. Since its inception in 2001, the committee’s annual meetings have concentrated on advancing pension systems and ensuring insurance protection for citizens of GCC member states.
