Health Minister calls for support for international efforts for early health warning

Health Minister Fahad bin Abdulrahman Al-Jalajil called on the international community to support efforts to be on alert to confront future health pandemics and to strengthen early health warning systems, stressing during his participation in the second meeting of the joint health and finance ministers within the G-20, the importance of doubling international efforts to address antimicrobial resistance.

He pointed out that great efforts were made by the joint working group to analyze the financing gaps in the international health system, to fill the gaps related to financing readiness for future pandemics, and to adopt a new mechanism to fill them.

The minister said the integration of the health and financial aspects is a priority to manage a strong international system capable of addressing future health challenges, stressing the importance of building on the outcomes of the Riyadh Summit 2020, which is supported by the Indonesian presidency at the Bali Summit this year. He also praised the Bali Summit’s efforts in making the group’s performance successful, announcing the Kingdom’s support for the Indian presidency of the G-20 summit next year.
