Islamic Affairs Minister Highlights Saudi Arabia’s Role in COP29 for Civilizational Dialogue.

Riyadh: The Kingdom’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance participated in the Global Summit of Religious Leaders, which is being held here under the slogan ‘World Religions for a Green Planet’ ahead of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29).

According to Saudi Press Agency, Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance Sheikh Dr. Abdullatif Al Alsheikh, through a speech delivered by Undersecretary of Islamic Affairs Sheikh Dr. Awad Al-Anazi, emphasized that Saudi Arabia’s involvement in the conference is instrumental in advancing dialogue among scholars, religious leaders, and representatives of international organizations about environmental challenges. This initiative aligns with the Kingdom’s commitment to fostering dialogue among civilizations and its prominent role in serving Muslims globally.

He further highlighted that Saudi Arabia is committed to addressing climate change proactively, driven by a strong belief in envir
onmental protection. The minister noted the Kingdom’s efforts to balance developmental needs with environmental preservation, aiming to improve the quality of life and bolster international efforts to counteract the impacts of climate change.
