Jeddah Coral Reefs Take Center Stage at Biennale Environment Talk

Jeddah: Amidst the displays of the second edition of the Islamic Arts Biennale, organized by the Diriyah Biennale Foundation under the theme "And All That Is In Between," an interactive workshop on Jeddah's coral reefs took place yesterday evening. The workshop was held at the Cultural Program building in the Hajj Terminal at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, with the participation of a group of academics from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST).

According to Saudi Press Agency, the workshop was organized in conjunction with Environment Week 2025 and emphasized the crucial role coral reefs play in marine life and their historical link to Jeddah's coastal identity. Attendees included researchers and experts in marine biology and environmental sustainability.

The workshop covered environmental and historical aspects, as well as climate challenges that coral reefs face, such as bleaching. Modern scientific efforts in environmental rehabilitation and biodiversity preservation were also presented.

The Islamic Arts Biennale organized the event to connect art with current environmental concerns, fostering dialogue between arts and sciences. The goal is to increase public awareness of environmental sustainability and the preservation of natural resources, aligning with Saudi Vision 2030's sustainability goals.
