A fire broke out today, Wednesday, in two warehouses belonging to the Aqaba Logistics Company in the southern region.
According to the “Ammon” news website, the two warehouses contain flammable materials, car tires and electrical appliances, and the fire spread across a large area, before the firefighting teams that rushed to the place were able to put it out.
A source in the Aqaba Special Economic Zone said that the head of the Aqaba Region Authority, Nayef Hamidi al-Fayez, arrived at the scene of the fire to find out the course of dealing with the incident.
The source explained that the causes of the fire have not yet been determined and an investigation will be opened into the incident, indicating that the losses were limited to goods and their size could not be determined until now.
For his part, the Governor of Aqaba, Khaled Al-Hajjaj, said that a fire broke out at three in the morning in the logistics company for goods in the southern region, which is located outside the city and in an empty area.
He pointed out that the warehouses are intended for storing goods coming through the ports and containers for merchants, and contain vehicle tires and paper rolls.
He stressed that the fire was dealt with and limited to not spreading to the rest of the warehouses, indicating that dealing with the fire lasted for three hours.
He pointed out that the total area of the warehouses is 10,000 dunums, and the warehouses are on an area of 5,000 square meters, stressing that the fire broke out in the range of 2,500 square meters.
He pointed out that there were no fire injuries, while he did not estimate until now the size of the losses in the goods that were exposed to the fire.
He confirmed that the cooling process is continuing by the Civil Defense, and a committee was formed to find out the causes of the fire.
