Riyadh: The King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD), Riyadh’s premier business and lifestyle hub, has received three Certificates of Excellence from WiredScore, a leading company in assessing and improving digital connectivity and smart technology in buildings.

According to Saudi Press Agency, these awards recognize KAFD’s achievements in Cybersecurity, Data Management, and System Integration, underscoring its leadership in smart urban innovation and technology-enabled infrastructure.

The certifications highlight KAFD’s advanced capabilities in smart city technology. The cybersecurity certificate underscores its commitment to implementing rigorous protocols to safeguard digital assets and protect businesses and residents. The data management certificate highlights KAFD’s use of streamlined practices ensuring accurate, standardized, and accessible data for enhanced operational efficiency. Finally, the system integration certificate recognizes KAFD’s capabilities in a unified technology network, enabling automation, connectivity, and control across the smart district’s 95-building development.

Spanning 1.6 square kilometers in Riyadh, KAFD is the largest LEED platinum-certified district globally and Saudi Arabia’s first vertical city. Its infrastructure integrates advanced urban technologies such as smart parking systems, HVAC controls, and energy-efficient solar solutions. These innovations aim to bolster Riyadh’s position as a global business destination and an economic hub, the release emphasized.

Chief Information Officer at KAFD Ramez Alfayez stated: “At KAFD, we are committed to offering a smart city environment that blends advanced connectivity and digital infrastructure to meet the evolving needs of modern businesses and urban living. As Saudi Arabia undergoes a remarkable transformation under Vision 2030, KAFD leads the way in shaping the future of work and urban living. By promoting exclusive, technology-enabled Grade-A experiences, we contribute to Riyadh’s position as a world-class city and a hub for business and innovation.”

This achievement follows KAFD’s designation in July 2024 as the first neighborhood in the Middle East and Africa to receive the SmartScore Neighborhood Certification, recognizing its comprehensive digital infrastructure and commitment to innovation in urban living.
