Marib: The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) implemented a project to improve sanitation services for internally displaced persons (IDPs) and the host community in Yemen’s Marib Governorate, in collaboration with the UN International Organization for Migration (IOM).
According to Saudi Press Agency, the project aims to enhance access to safe sanitation facilities and waste management services for IDPs and the host community in Marib through the construction of 200 new latrines, the rehabilitation of 600 sewage pits, and strengthening local waste-management capacity to contribute to safer and healthier living conditions.
The project will directly benefit 47,598 individuals and indirectly benefit 137,580 individuals. IOM Chief of Mission in Yemen Abdusattor Esoev explained that the project is a lifeline for the residents of Marib, who are facing some of the toughest living conditions, noting that the initiative provides immediate relief while laying the foundation for long-term solutio
ns to the sanitation problems in the governorate.
The project is part of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing humanitarian efforts, led by KSrelief, to improve sanitation services, protect public health, and meet the needs of both IDPs and the host community in Yemen.
