Minister of Foreign Affairs Participates in Arab Troika Meeting with Security Council

Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah participated yesterday in the meeting of the Arab League Troika — Saudi Arabia, Kingdom of Bahrain, and Republic of Iraq — with the UN Security Council, chaired by the Republic of Slovenia.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the high-level week of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York City.

Prince Faisal underscored the importance of enhancing consultation mechanisms between the Security Council and regional organizations. He voiced appreciation for the historic decision of the Republic of Slovenia to recognize the State of Palestine.

The prince emphasized the Kingdom’s full support for the mediation efforts being led by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States, and rejected Israeli actions that hinder these efforts, reaffirming the Kingdom’s support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) and its appreciation for the agency’s efforts in the Gaza Strip.

He stressed the
importance of intensifying cooperation and coordination between the Arab League, the Security Council, and international partners to achieve tangible progress on issues concerning the Arab region and to contribute to the promotion of international peace and security.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister for International Multilateral Affairs and General Supervisor of the Public Diplomacy Deputyship Ambassador Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Rassi, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to UN Headquarters in New York Dr. Abdulaziz Alwasil, and Foreign Minister’s Office Director-General Abdulrahman Al-Dawood.
