Jazan: The Vegetation Cover Development Foundation (Morooj) marked the International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem by highlighting a significant achievement: the planting of more than 2.5 million mangrove trees across Jazan, Makkah, and Eastern regions.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Morooj also operates one of Saudi Arabia's largest mangrove nurseries, which boasts an annual production capacity of 2.5 million seedlings and achieves a planting success rate of more than 90%. This nursery plays a crucial role in supporting coastal afforestation projects, restoring natural habitats, enhancing biodiversity, and contributing to the reduction of carbon emissions.
This accomplishment stems from close collaboration between Morooj and various strategic partners in the private sector, as well as the National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification.
