Muscat Governor Saud Hilal Al Busaidi met walis of the governorate and specialists from Education, Culture and Science Oman National Commission to discuss a project to include one of the wilayat of Muscat Governorate in the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities for the year 2023.

The meeting highlighted the global network of learning cities, its objectives and strategy, how the basic learning city is being built, the gains that Oman will achieve by joining the network, and how to join this project, in preparation for the next stage.

Wilayat Muscat was chosen as a city for sustainable learning, at the end of the meeting, Oman News Agency (ONA) reported.

The step aims to join the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities.

This project comes in line with the efforts of the Sultanate to upgrade national indicators in education to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all).

The project is concerned with highlighting efforts related to sustainable development; such as empowering youth, promoting a culture of lifelong learning, and the economic and cultural prosperity of cities.
