Jeddah: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has strongly rejected and condemned the Israeli Knesset's demand to impose control over the West Bank, describing it as a dangerous escalation that seeks to solidify the illegal colonial occupation and undermine the prospects for a two-state solution. The OIC has expressed its strong opposition to this move, emphasizing the implications it could have on regional stability and peace efforts.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the OIC affirmed that Israel has no sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem. The organization stressed that the Israeli occupation and settlements are illegal under international law. It called for the immediate cessation of these activities in accordance with relevant United Nations resolutions and the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice.
The OIC also reiterated its call for the international community to fulfill its responsibilities by taking necessary political and legal actions to uphold the rights of the Palestinian people. It urged world powers to recognize the State of Palestine, support its full membership in the United Nations, and work towards ending the illegal occupation of Palestinian territories. The organization highlighted the importance of international solidarity in achieving a just and lasting solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
