The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Mr Hissein Brahim Taha, today met with the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Mr Shah Mahmood Qureshi, on the eve of the 48th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers due on 22-23 March 2022 in the Pakistani capital city of Islamabad.
The Foreign Minister gave a review of his country’s preparatory arrangements for a successful 48th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers with the theme “Partnering for Unity, Justice and Development”. This meeting of the CFM coincides with the festive occasion of the “Pakistan National Day” commemorated every year on March 23rd.
Minister Qureshi’s review also considered a number of important resolutions submitted for adoption to the Council’s 48th session. The two sides also discussed issues of mutual interest and various topics of concern to the Muslim world, including the situation in Afghanistan. In this connection, the Foreign Minister commended the appointment of the OIC Secretary General’s Special Envoy for Afghanistan.
For his part, the Secretary General congratulated the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on the occasion of its national day. He also commended the UN General Assembly’s proclamation of March 15th as the World Day against Islamophobia.
