SWCC, Schneider Electric Sign MoU to Activate Artificial Intelligence Techniques and Tools of Fourth Industrial Revolution in Production Systems

Riyadh, Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) signed today a memorandum of understanding with Schneider Electric, a global company specialized in energy utilization and digital operation.

The MoU aims to activate and employ the advanced digital solutions and advanced technologies in the field of artificial intelligence, to serve all future plans and projects for the water sector, and make them more sustainable, flexible, productive and competitive, in addition to provide the opportunities for developing national competencies.

Invest in Saudi Arabia Initiative Announces its Partnership with Formula 1 Saudi Grand Prix

Jeddah, Invest in Saudi Arabia, an initiative representing the unified national identity to market and attract investments to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, has announced itself as a founding partner with Formula 1 competition, the first Formula 1 Saudi Grand Prix race in Saudi Arabia, scheduled to be held and organized at the new Jeddah Corniche Circuit from 3 to 5 December .

The partnership aims to enhance Saudi Arabia ‘s investment identity in international forums and events, including motor racing, in addition to shedding light on investment opportunities in the Kingdom for one of the largest sporting events in the world, as the partnership confirms Saudi Arabia ‘s commitment to promoting promising investment opportunities in the sports and entertainment sectors.

Saudi Translation Forum hosts top experts in Riyadh to discuss future of translation industry

Translation experts from Saudi Arabia and seven other countries gathered in Riyadh this week to examine the main issues and challenges facing the global translation industry, shared best practice methods, and exchanged ideas. The forum also explored the role of translation in bridging cultures, as well as laws and regulations governing the industry.

Hosted by the Saudi Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission, one of 11 commissions under the Ministry of Culture, from 2 to 3 December 2021, the forum hosted engaging panel discussions and interactive workshops that presented new tools and techniques in the fields of literary translation, news translation, political translation, and language interpretation. Discussions highlighted international best practice in using translation technologies and computer-assisted translation tools.

Nine prominent international speakers, trainers, and professors from top universities such as Leuven University (Belgium), National University of Colombia, Lumière University Lyon 2 (France), Hamad Bin Khalifa University (Qatar), University of Granada (Spain), University of Ljubljana (Slovenia) and University College London (UK), participated in the forum’s panel sessions and training workshops.

Dr. Mohammed Alwan, CEO of the Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission, said: “We are proud to have hosted the first successful edition of the Translation Forum. It has been a true honor to bring together some of the top experts in the translation sector to discuss ways we can work together to advance the sector. Saudi Arabia has one of the biggest translation and publishing markets in the region, and we are exerting all efforts to grow the sector even more through nurturing and encouraging local writers and translators, forging international collaborations, and developing a supportive regulatory framework.”

As part of the forum, the Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission organized the Kingdom’s first audiovisual translation challenge for students, amateurs, and professionals in the field. During the two-day ‘Movisation Challenge’, teams of two to three members competed in translating short film clips discussing Saudi culture and history from Arabic into English, French, Spanish, and Korean. Prizes ranged from SAR 5,500 ($1,466) to SAR 20,000 ($5,332) for winners in two tracks: amateurs and students, and professionals.

Investment Ministry Wraps up Participation in Enlit Europe 2021 Summit

Riyadh, The Ministry of Investment concluded its participation in the Enlit Europe 2021 Summit, which was held from November 30 to December 2, 2021, in Milan, Italy, with the participation of the Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (MODON), the Saudi Industrial Development Fund (SIDF), Aramco’s In-Kingdom Total Value Add (IKTVA), NEOM, and the Saudi Electricity Company.

The Saudi entities participated under the slogan “Invest in Saudi Arabia”, which represents the unified national identity to market and attract investments to the Kingdom. During its participation, the Ministry of Investment highlighted the importance of the energy transformation and the development of public facilities in the Kingdom to achieve Vision 2030, as the Kingdom seeks to raise the proportion of renewable energy sources from 1% to 50%, based on renewable energy projects within the National Renewable Energy Program, in addition to the construction of the largest green hydrogen project in NEOM.

As part of its participation in the exhibition accompanying the summit, the Ministry conducted several dialogues and discussion panels, allowing investors to be more acquainted with partnerships and available investment opportunities, in addition to highlighting the products and services provided by the Ministry.

Other participating parties provided discussions and dialogue sessions in the events and familiarized the visitors to the “Invest in Saudi Arabia” pavilion, with the services and products offered by each entity to investors.

The Enlit Europe 2021 Summit is a global platform for cooperation and innovation, and a platform for discussing relevant energy issues and challenges in Europe and the world.

Acting Riyadh Region Governor to Patronize 1st National Islamic Banking Forum at SPA Headquarters on Monday

Riyadh, Under the patronage of Prince Mohammed bin Abdurrahman bin Abdulaziz, Acting Governor of Riyadh Region, the National Center for Social Responsibility will organize on Dec 6-7, 2021, the 1st National Forum for Islamic Banking, entitled “The Kingdom’s Leadership in Islamic Banking”, coinciding with the World Banking Day which falls on Dec 4, 2021 at the headquarters of the SPA Conference Center in Riyadh.

The Forum will be organized in partnership with the Committee on Banking Information and Awareness in Saudi Banks.

The forum sheds light on the Kingdom’s leadership in Islamic banking at the Arab and global levels in light of its Vision 2030, and the possibilities that make the Kingdom the leader of the Islamic world at all levels and its global progress in the field of Islamic banking services.

The forum comes in light of the rapid growth of the Islamic financial industry since its inception at the global level, as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia witnessed significant quantitative and qualitative developments in Islamic finance, which indicates its leading position in this field, as the assets of local Islamic banking services amounted to more than USD$565 billion by the first quarter of 2021, in addition to achieving the goals of Vision 2030 in this field.

It is worth mentioning that the forum comes within the efforts of the National Center for Social Responsibility in providing services aimed at spreading the culture of social responsibility and making it a tangible reality by achieving a partnership between the public and private sectors.

Saudi Arabia’s Soudah Development Company Joins UNWTO

Madrid, Abha-based Soudah Development Company (SDC), which is subsidiary to the Public Investment Fund (PIF) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, announced today that it has officially joined as an associate member of United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), which is interested in promoting the tourism sector as a major driver of economic growth and environmental sustainability globally.

SDC is the 25th affiliated member from the Middle East region in the Organization, which includes more than 500 members around the world and a group of the most important Saudi companies and destinations, such as NEOM, Qiddiya, the Red Sea Development Company and the Royal Commission for Al-Ula Governorate.

SDC was chosen as a member of UNWTO on the sidelines of the 24th session of the Organization General Assembly which was held in the Spanish capital, Madrid.

Soudah Development’s joining UNWTO contributes to achieving the company’s goals in developing the tourism and entertainment sectors by celebrating the natural, cultural and heritage, protecting natural resources and wildlife, and empowering the local community in Soudah and parts of Rijal Almaa in line with the objectives of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.

On the occasion, SDC CEO, Eng. Hossam El-Din Al-Madani confirmed that the company is working to build strategic partnerships with organizations to complement the ongoing efforts to develop a luxury mountain tourist destination, indicating that joining UNWTO confirms the company’s commitment to applying the highest international standards and cooperating with the best international bodies to promote Soudah as a mountain destination maintaining environmental sustainability to annually attract two million visitors by 2030.
