Cascais: Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee president Prince Fahd bin Jalawi bin Abdulaziz bin Musaad attended the conclusion ceremony of the 27th General Assembly of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) in Cascais, Portugal. The assembly was chaired by ANOC president Robin Mitchell and included the presence of International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Dr. Thomas Bach.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the final day of the assembly featured presentations of ANOC reports, highlighting the organization’s future strategy to represent the interests of national Olympic committees worldwide. The period is anticipated to include a leadership transition within the IOC as Dr. Bach’s term concludes next summer.
Prince Fahd bin Jalawi also engaged in several bilateral meetings with leaders of national committees, including the U.S., Dutch, South African, and Sierra Leonean Olympic and Paralympic Committees, who have recently merged their Olympic and Paralympic entities. These discussions focu
sed on exchanging administrative and technical expertise to elevate Olympic and Paralympic sports in Saudi Arabia.
Prince Fahd bin Jalawi met with the Albanian and Kazakh committee heads to discuss enhancing sports cooperation to advance national sports development. In a separate meeting with International Boxing Federation president Boris van der Vorst, Prince Fahd explored avenues for advancing boxing in Saudi Arabia by leveraging the federation’s technical expertise.
