SAIP Launches Crackdown on Intellectual Property Infringement.

RIYADH: The Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property (SAIP) has launched a major crackdown on counterfeit goods across Saudi Arabia. Working with agencies like the Saudi Food and Drug Authority, SAIP targeted 61 businesses in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam, seizing over 23,000 fake cosmetics, perfumes, and fashion items. According to Saudi Press Agency, SAIP also conducted independent inspections, confiscating over 45,000 counterfeit products from 162 businesses. SAIP has also been active online, blocking over 4,175 websites and removing 14,000 listings for fake goods. SAIP employs a data-driven approach to combat counterfeiting, utilizing information gathered from over 6,000 "mystery shopper" visits to identify high-risk sectors. This strategic method allows them to focus their inspection campaigns on cosmetics, perfumes, sportswear, clothing, footwear, and accessories. To report violations or offer suggestions, individuals can contact SAIP via email at [email protected]. For technical support, they can visit the communication center portal at or call 920021421.
