Saudi Media Witnesses Digital Transformation, Media Regulatory Authority Chief Says

Riyadh: General Authority for Media Regulation Chief Executive Officer Dr. Abdullatif Al-Abdullatif affirmed that Saudi Arabia's media sector is undergoing a profound digital transformation that has created expansive opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and national talents to contribute to the development of a more professional and credible media industry.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Dr. Al-Abdullatif's remarks came during a meeting organized today by the Small and Medium Enterprises General Authority (Monsha'at) as part of Media and Marketing Week, with the participation of entrepreneurs and stakeholders in the media and marketing sectors.

Dr. Al-Abdullatif noted that digital transformation has opened new creative avenues in the media sector, enabling a wide range of entrepreneurs and SMEs to provide innovative media content and solutions. He added that these enterprises are now leading a significant portion of the evolving media landscape, which the authority is keen to support and empower through its regulatory policies.

He pointed out that the Kingdom has achieved notable leadership in modern media fields such as podcasting. The authority has gradually implemented regulations and launched training programs to help transform emerging talents into professionals, ensuring content quality and business sustainability.

Dr. Al-Abdullatif also revealed that the authority plans to launch several initiatives to address key challenges in the sector, provide accurate and reliable data to support regulatory and legislative decisions, and stimulate investment in the media industry.
