Saudi Ministry of Education Celebrates World Creativity and Innovation Day with 1871 Int’l Patents to Be the First at Arab Level

Riyadh– The Ministry of Education yesterday, Thursday, joined the world in celebrating the “World Creativity and Innovation Day”, which is observed every year on April 21 to emphasize the role of creativity and innovation in different aspects of students, faculty members, and researchers in Saudi universities, and to identify the importance of innovative minds in developing societies and addressing challenges they face, in addition to its effective role in building an economy based on innovations, being a genuine wealth of economic growth.

Saudi universities were distinguished by their innovations in several fields including health, digital technology, energy, environmental sustainability, and other fields.

The Ministry of Education has registered a total of 1871 patents between 2015 and 2021 to occupy the first place at the level of Arab world.

Moreover, Saudi universities also include more than 47 centers for innovation and entrepreneurship, and more than 135 centers of excellence and research, which contribute to the development of research into patents, in addition to launching various innovation exhibitions and events that in turn stimulate students to brainstorm and create, as the Kingdom ranked first in the Arab world in the number of registered patents.

The Ministry of Education is working on launching a set of initiatives to transform these national achievements into investment projects, improve societies, and bring about tangible developments for the benefit of the country through research innovations led by national resources.
