Saudi Scouts Assist Ministry of Commerce in Price Monitoring at Holy Sites

Makkah: The Saudi Arabian Boy Scouts Association is actively supporting the Ministry of Commerce in monitoring and regulating commercial activities in Makkah and the holy sites. The scouts are assisting with various tasks, including the verification of commercial registers and product prices, ensuring the presence of price tags, checking product expiry dates, and overseeing the approval of discounts and promotional offers. They are also ensuring the proper operation of the Mada network, which is crucial for financial transactions.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the scouts are also involved in identifying and monitoring establishments that possess goods violating Ministry of Commerce regulations. This includes checking for product quality, identifying violating images, and seizing goods of unknown origin. Their responsibilities extend to monitoring prices within the holy sites, preventing commercial fraud, assisting in the distribution of food items, and organizing the distribution process.

Scout Leader Youssef Al-Misnad, who leads the trade group, explained that these tasks are carried out in key locations such as the Al-Awali complex, the Seasons Tower, and the holy sites of Mina and Arafat. The association has prepared four teams specifically to support the Ministry's employees. Al-Misnad highlighted that the scouts have received thorough preparation in identifying damaged goods, goods unfit for human consumption, and methods of seizing, confiscating, and destroying these items. They have also been trained in calibrating scales used in outlets and points of sale. This educational preparation, provided by specialists from the Ministry of Commerce, has equipped the scouts with valuable experience and skills in supervisory work.
