Riyadh: The second session of the International Conference on Conjoined Twins, held yesterday in Riyadh, delved into advanced medical practices and technologies for treating and separating conjoined twins.
According to Saudi Press Agency, experts presented discussions on topics such as multimodal imaging for surgical planning in cranial twin separations, radiological assessments of conjoined twins, and managing cardiovascular malformations in such cases.
The session also highlighted experiences in addressing cardiac challenges during twin separation procedures, emphasizing the integration of virtual reality and regenerative medicine to innovate surgical planning and execution. Participants explored key aspects of preoperative preparation, including comprehensive assessments, anaesthesia readiness, and decision-making processes for determining the timing and strategy for separation surgeries.
