Cairo — The Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, condemned the armed clashes that took place in West Darfur, Sudan, against the background of tribal conflicts that claimed the lives of many innocent civilians.
In a statement issued today, Aboul Gheit called on all parties to stop violence immediately, adhere to the complete restraint, and avoid using violence to resolve any outstanding issues between brothers.
The Secretary-General stressed the need to unite national efforts to resolve the current political crisis in the country, stressing his confidence that the political breakthrough would strongly help in stabilizing the security situation in Sudan.
