The Iranian Foreign Ministry officially announces the activation of relations with Saudi Arabia

The Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Nasser Kanaani, confirmed that the relations between his country and Saudi Arabia have been officially activated.

Kanaani said in a press statement: “The meeting of Foreign Minister Hussein Amir Abdullahian with his Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan in Beijing today was good, positive and very constructive, during which it was agreed to pave the way for the reopening of the two Embassies and consulates, as soon as possible.”

Iranian Foreign Minister Amir Abdullahian indicated in a tweet after meeting with his Saudi counterpart in Beijing that Tehran and Riyadh had agreed to resume Hajj and Umrah as well, in addition to economic and trade cooperation.

During a joint Iranian-Saudi statement, signed by the Saudi and Iranian Foreign Ministers this morning in Beijing, it was announced that an agreement had been reached on activating the joint security cooperation agreement and strengthening their cooperation to ensure the security and stability of the region.
