Istanbul (NINA) – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan headed this Thursday afternoon to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at the head of a large official delegation at the invitation of King Salman bin Abdulaziz, in a step that is the first of its kind since 2018.
In a press statement before leaving Ataturk Airport in Istanbul, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that his visit to Saudi Arabia is an indication of the common will to start a new phase of cooperation between the two brotherly countries.
He noted that the two countries will review, during his visit, the Turkish-Saudi relations in all its dimensions, in addition to other issues of common interest.
Turkish media sources stated that the Turkish delegation accompanying President Erdogan includes Ministers, most notably Justice, Trade, Defense, Culture and Tourism, Treasury and Finance, the head of the intelligence service, and parliamentarians from the Justice and Development Party and the National Movement.
The visit is scheduled to last for two days, and will include a bilateral meeting between Erdogan and King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and another at the level of delegations, then a meeting at an iftar banquet.
