The Ministry of Transport has received three newly manufactured Boeing aircraft, to officially join the fleet of the national carrier of Iraqi Airways.
The Minister of Transport, Razzaq Al-Saadawi, said, during the official handover ceremony of the new aircraft on the grounds of Baghdad International Airport today, Sunday, that the three aircraft are B737-8 MAX, which is the second batch out of sixteen aircraft within the purchase contract signed with the American Boeing Company for the aircraft industry.
He added, “These aircraft have high, advanced, modern and fast specifications, and their ability to fly in the air for 8 hours, low fuel consumption, low noise, and Internet service,” noting that “this achievement is within the government program, and it was an important role for the Council of Ministers to vote to allocate sums of money to the manufacturer for receive these aircraft.
He continued to say, “The arrival of these aircraft is a qualitative addition to the Iraqi air fleet, due to the privacy and advanced capabilities of these aircraft if they are invested by Iraqi Airways to enhance the company’s revenues.”
The three planes took off from Boeing Field Airport south of downtown Seattle in the United States of America towards Keflafik Airport in Iceland, led by an Iraqi crew, in preparation for the delivery flights and officially joining the Iraqi Airways fleet.
The three newly-made B737-8 MAX aircraft entered, this Sunday morning, Turkish airspace, heading to Baghdad International Airport, to officially join the Iraqi Airways fleet.
