Riyadh: The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) has announced the continuation of the ZAKATY service, which allows individuals to pay their Zakat through the ZAKATY mobile app or the official website (zakaty.gov.sa) for the eighth consecutive year.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the ZAKATY service provides users with the ability to calculate the required Zakat on various assets, such as cash, gold, silver, stocks, investment funds, and trade properties. The service also offers customer invoices and a reminder feature for Zakat due dates. A notable feature includes the calculation of gold Zakat based on its purity through a specific algorithm, linked to global gold and silver prices.
Since its inception eight years ago, the ZAKATY service has facilitated the collection of over SAR730 million in Zakat. Payments made through the service have been directed to eligible recipients registered under the social security system of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development.
ZATCA has confirmed that the ZAKATY service is available via its smartphone app, offering individuals the ability to calculate and pay Zakat securely through trusted payment methods such as SADAD, Apple Pay, Mada, and other financial services. This ensures the swift and flexible delivery of Zakat invoices to the intended beneficiaries. Users can also select beneficiaries registered in social security, focusing on families needing housing, divorced families, families of prisoners, and other eligible recipients. The service is managed by specialists in Zakat Fiqh (jurisprudence) and calculation.
