Upon an invitation by Maronite Patriarch, Cardinal Bechara Boutros Rahi, the Synod of the Maronite Church Bishops concluded its works in Bkirki on Saturday, calling upon officials of the State, particularly the new parliament and the future government, to find a radical solution for private schools in Lebanon, as dictated by the Constitution.
In an issued statement following the Synod meeting, conferees called on officials to set an economic rescue plan to improve the country's situation and to curb the widespread corruption in the State.
The Synod members also discussed the increased number of Syrian refugees living in Lebanon, urging the political class to unify their word pertaining to their [refugees] repatriation.
On the government formation level, the Synod participants appealed to the Lebanese counterparts to rise above their personal interests and pave the way for a swift cabinet formation.
Finally, conferees called on concerned officials to amend the nationality decree.
