Baghdad, Iraq and the Philippines discussed ways to reactivate the Iraqi-Philippine Joint Commission.
"The charge d'affaires of the Embassy of Iraq to the Philippines Khalil Jundi Rashou and the Philippine Minister of Economy Ernesto Pernia discussed ways to strengthen relations between the two countries," a foreign ministry statement said.
The two sides also discussed ways to reactivate the joint Iraqi-Philippine committee to hold its annual meetings postponed since 2015.
The charge d'affaires said during the meeting "the latest developments in the situation in Iraq after defeating Daesh terrorist gangs and forming the new cabinet."
For his part, the Philippine minister praised the victories achieved by the Iraqi forces, stressing the need to strengthen economic relations between the two countries, indicating the position of his country supporting Iraq, the oldest and greatest civilization in history.
